INCLUSIVE EDUCATION


The institution runs the ‘Inclusive education for the disabled at secondary stage’ scheme sponsored by Central Govt. of India and in association with  GCERT Gandhinagar in Bhavnagar city and taluka, Gadhada, Gariyadhar, Ghogha, Mahuva, Palitana, Shihor, Talaja, Umrala, and Vallabhipur in Bhavnagar District. Under this scheme the disabled children like Visually Handicapped, Hearing Impaired, Mentally Retarded, and Cerebral Palsy of std. 9 to 12 of secondary and higher secondary school are admitted in normal schools and trained them by giving special education and training by special teachers.

The beneficiaries are provided education, training, uniform and stationary allowance, education kit etc., by trained professionals. At present more than 350 disabled children are receiving benefits of education by about 44 special teachers under this scheme.

DISTRICT BRAIL LIBRARY

There is a big library in our institution run by National Association for the Blind. During the year about 300 members joined the library and take benefit of it. There are all kinds of reading materials available in the library e.g. Brail books, brail magazines, audio cassettes, CDs, etc. The members are taking benefits of this materials eagerly. Braille newspaper named ‘Reliance Dristi’ published by Reliance Foundation, ‘Balshrusti’, ‘Katchsaurabh’, ‘Zarmar’, ‘Kalrav’, ‘Saiarpan’, ‘Rajsthan Patrika’, etc, brail materials are available in the library. The brail magazine ‘Gruhshobha’ published from Ahmedabad, which is very useful for blind females. There are about more than 2200 brail books available in the library and also about brail books are in printing. There are about 17 different magazines are available in sighted literature and about 9 magazines are available in braille. We are also sending the books totally free by post for the readers who are living in the remote villages. For increase reader’s interest about library institution runs different activities like books exhibition, reading week celebration, program of questionnaire etc.

Rehabilitation Center:

Community Based for Rehabilitation Program (C.B.R.)

      C.B.R.’s full Form is Community Based for Rehabilitation. CBR focuses on enhancing the quality of life for   people with disabilities and their families, meeting basic needs and ensuring inclusion and participation. CBR is a multi-sectorial approach and has 5 major components: health, education, livelihood, social and empowerment. CBR was developed in 1980, to give people with disabilities access to rehabilitation in their own communities using predominantly local resources. By the tremendous Efforts of General Secretary Shree L. T. Sonani Social Defense Department, Gujarat State Gandhinagar allotted to National Association for the Blind, Bhavnagar District Branch the project of CBR means Rehabilitation of Group of people. We have with the team of 12 field workers and 1 field supervisor Door to Door Surveyed the Impaired people in the Talukas allotted to us. During the survey many of them are curable and non-curable cases were examined by the Doctors and certificates were issued them accordingly, Medicines if required are being advised during training. Identity cards are issued by the District Social & Defense Office. Further Assessment camps, Blood grouping camps, Photography camps are arranged, impaired people are being given Equipment’s and Training  after Assessment. Passes for travelling by bus, concession in Railway fares, guidance for Employment, Vocational training etc. are being carried out for rehabilitation. We are also helping for Scholarship Forms, Loan Forms, etc. Education, Training and Employment training to impaired found are being carried out during inspection under CBR project. National Association for the Blind, Bhavnagar District has been carried out this program in Bhavnagar, Botad, and Vallbhipur Talukas and Surveyed for the Impaired people, were rehabilitated under this program.


Integrated Scheme

Adoption Proposal: There are 150 children remaining to get the benefit of the scheme as per the approved government rule. They are not getting educational training, books etc. It you can be a part of the integrated education scheme, then you can help child. Please join us with child adoption proposal.


FLAG DAY WEEK CELEBRATION


14TH September is celebrated as National Flag Day in entire country. Every year institution tries and work for the different problems of the person with blind and increase their strength by various programs like public awareness program with the help of school-colleges students, teachers, professors, volunteers of NSS unit etc., public related articles in newspapers, rally in entire district, public awareness booth, lectures in school-colleges etc. The institution is making fund raising for the welfare of the blinds during this week and use this fund for the employment and rehabilitation, eye check-up camp, diagnosis and prevention of disabilities, brail library, guidance program for unemployed disabled persons, organizing vocational seminars, cultural and sports activities for the disabled persons and inclusive education program for the disabled.

Co-Curriculum Activities
The institute has been organizing ‘The sports Competition’ every year since 1995 for the all round development of these visually impaired in which games like chess, cricket, athletics khel mahakumbh etc are organized each and every year.

· Akhil Gujarat Blind Cricket Tournament at Bhavnagar in 1995.
· Akhil Gujarat Blind Play Festival at Bhavnagar in 1997.
· Akhil Gujarat Blind Athletes Competition at Bhavnagar in 1999
· Blind Chess Competition & Poem Competition at Talaja in 2001.
· State Level Blind Cricket Tournament at Bhavnagar in 2013.
· Special Exhibition organization for blind people every year form 2012.
· Special Cultural Program organization for blind students in 2013 and 2014.
· The organization of ‘Shrimad Bhagwat Saptah Gyanyangna Parayana’ for the welfare of the blind and to show their hidden abilities – from 11th to 17th  January, 2016
· Gujarat state level visually challenged chess tournament in 2016.
· Akhil Gujarat Blind Teachers’ Educational Annual Seminar in 2016.
· "Samvedna Setu" has been started in the year 2017 for support the disabled People in different areas of the district and thus to transform Society's Ideology.
· Mega camp for aid to more than 750 disabled persons at Palitana in 2017

Other Program

Public awareness program: - Institute arranges public awareness programs at each talukas and cities of the district in which celebrating of various activities like street plays, different types of competitions, rally, pamphlets distribution, celebrating various festivals and especially disability days are being focused.

Vocational guidance &Training program: The vocational guidance seminar is also organized for the different categories of the handicapped in which the experts of different fields guide them how to go ahead by overcoming their limitations not only that interested persons are being provided with the necessary training also.

Disability management Training: - 450 Medical Officers/doctors, working under C.H.C.\P.H.C. are trained under Disability Management training.

B.R.C. & C.R.C. Program: - School principals and class teacher are trained under B.R.C.\C.R.C. Co-ordinations, educational march. 

Public Camps: - Parent’s guidance camp, public awareness camp, providing rights for social and political field. 

All India Flag Day for the Blind: Every year on the 14th September comes the day of celebration and expression of talent and joy. On this day we invite special individuals who also help us with our fund raising activities.

Louis Braille Day: We celebrate Louis Braille’s Birthday on 4th January. He is the one who is the inventor of Braille, a system of reading and writing used by people who are blind or visually impaired. 

Helen Keller Day: Helen Adams Keller (June 27, 1880 – June 1, 1968) was an American author, political activist, and lecturer. She was the first deaf blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. She has been an inspiration for all the disabled people across the world. We celebrate her birthday on 27th June every year.

World Sight Day: World Sight Day (WSD) is an annual day of awareness held on the second Thursday of October, to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment. World Sight Day is observed every year on the 10th of October.

International Day of People with Disability: International Day of People with Disability is observed each year on December 3rd.


Celebrating different Day: we are celebrating all local, education and social day like, Navratri Mahotsav, Ganesh Chaturthi, Id-e-Millaad, Republic Day, Independence Day, Rakshabandhan and many more festivals. We also organize cultural activities and Special execution program to every year for blind and other disabled people
